If you get the following error at KDE startup

"Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Permission denied)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device"

open "/etc/security/console.perms.d/50-default-perms"
file and add "=/dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*" to the beginnig and add " 0666 0600 root" to the end then reboot yout linux host.
